Record breaking year for Buncrana Chamber

Following our AGM, Buncrana Chamber of Commerce are delighted to announce that sales of our local shopping vouchers have more than doubled in the past two years.

In total, over €120,000 worth of vouchers have been sold. Last year's sales were €75,000, and the previous year totalled €56,000.

Announcing the news, Buncrana Chamber president stated the reasons for the increase in sales.

"We are delighted to announce the record level of sales this year. It has largely been down to local businesses and people supporting our 'Shop Local' ethos. Employers can receive great tax-free benefits by providing vouchers instead of cash to employees, and we believe that the buy-in from employers in one of the main reasons for the uplift in sales. If any employer would like to find out more about the benefits of the scheme, we would ask the to contact our office for more information."

"It's a great boost to the local businesses and our members to see so much money staying local, and we would urge more people to use the vouchers, as they can be redeemed at almost every Chamber member's business."

Buncrana Chamber of Commerce announce Inishowen Business Week

Businesses across Inishowen are invited to attend a series of seminars beginning the 22nd June aimed at providing local businesses and entrepreneurs advice, expertise and guidance in the first ever Inishowen Business Week. These seminars are free of charge to members of the Buncrana Chamber of Commerce, and subsidised by the Chamber for non-members.

Expert speakers will be on hand to pass on their business knowledge and experience in a number of fields including customer service, sales, digital marketing, negotiation skills, health and safety, employment law, and stress management to name a few. Garda Sgt Paul Wallace will also provide a seminar on business security.

“This will be a really exciting and informative week for businesses or all types, shapes and sizes. We have recruited some expert speakers to deliver this series of seminars, and while I can appreciate that business owners are busy, and we have a very packed schedule, we are urging all businesses, Chamber members or not, to take advantage of the expertise being made available and attend any seminars they can.”

“This business week is not just about increasing profit, but also efficiency. I have taken part in many of these seminars myself and they are extremely valuable, not just to business owners but also senior staff and line managers, so as a business owner, if you cannot make it yourself, we would ask that you send someone along to the seminars, and don’t miss out. Unfortunately in the past, we have not had the opportunity to host such an event in Inishowen, which is why the Chamber of Commerce have stepped in to facilitate.”

“Despite some economic recovery, times are still tough for businesses and we are delighted to be able to provide such a comprehensive set of seminars, which will be of great benefit to local businesses, that will hopefully help them to improve our local economy while improving their bottom line at the same time.”

The event will also see the launch of the first ever Buncrana Chamber Business Awards, on Thursday 26th June, where businesses can find out how to get in line for recognition of their own businesses achievements, with the grand final of the Awards later this year in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel on the 14th November.
