Buncrana Chamber of Commerce Back in Business

Buncrana Chamber of Commerce (BCC) is delighted to announce it has recently appointed a new administrator, Rona McLaughlin and has re-opened its offices in Buncrana.  The office located at The Tourist Information Office on Railway Road, will be open Wednesday-Friday 9.00-1.00 and Saturday 10.00-4.00 beginning 11 June 2008.

I previous years the Chamber has organized trade and fashion shows, information evenings, the Buncrana business gift voucher scheme and assisted with many other events in an effort to promote their members, represent their needs, and assist in the economic development of the Buncrana area.

Since Deirdre Bradley left in February, the organisation has been without an administrator and has suffered by not having a single point of contact for its members and a committed administrator to follow through on their objectives.  Having an administrator is essential, ensuring that they can continue to build on the good work of the past 7 years, whether that be, as a lobbying voice on issues such as litter, traffic, public amenities, parking, tourism or in assisting with the development of new businesses.

In particular due to the raising levels of unemployment, it is critical for Inishowen to have continued representation from a body like the Chambers, to highlight the area’s economic issues at the highest political level.  Naturally having a working office is vital to this process.

Paddy McLaughlin, from the Buncrana Chamber of Commerce added
‘We are delighted to see the office open and staffed again.  We look forward to re-vitalising the membership, working on new projects and getting back to business as usual and building on the good work done by Ms Bradley.  We would like to thank Seamus McEleney, (BCC) Tony Morrison, (FAS) Nuala McGarrigle, (FAS) Pauline Coyle (Inishowen Partnership) for their assistance in securing funding and the appointment of Ms McLaughlin.’
